Sheatre has produced and co-facilitated over 80 community based interactive theatre presentations in Canada, the US and England, produced one video documentary, produced one audiotape of original music, mounted the inaugural "Womenfolk" festival, conducted numerous workshops in schools and for community organizations, and provided consulting services for festivals, arts and community organizations.
We have worked directly with over 1500 participants in Community Arts projects and served audiences in excess of 23,000 during the 90's.
We have a long history of activity in "Arts Education" ; since 1990, 67% of our projects have involved learners of all ages in a variety of educational environments.
ACTIVITIES IN HOUSE PRODUCTIONS including: "face t face" alternative youth theatre program, "TELL" theatre forum events, and mainstage productions like The Ballad of Kennedy's.
COMMISSIONS: design and facilitation of workshops to order, and consulting on popular theatre & education.
MILESTONES:We have presented original plays at: The Three Fires Sacred Assembly (1997), The Michigan Womyn's Music Festival (1994), and Bread & Butter, International Popular Theatre Festival (1989).
2000: Sheatre presented BUILDING OUR CULTURAL MEMORY, a workshop at "The Time of Our Lives " International Festival of Reminiscence Theatre in London, England.
1997: Sheatre conducted three workshops at "The Ripple Effect" International Festival of Theatre of the Oppressed.
1996: Sheatre produced "Womenfolk", a cutting-edge retreat and festival attracting approximately 1,000 women.
1994: Sheatre is featured in the book Playing Boal: Theatre and Therapy (New York: Routledge, 1994).
1991: Our video, "Shelter Me: The Power of Popular Theatre", was in the program of the 20th anniversary International Conference of Theatre of the Oppressed in Paris, France.
1989: Sheatre produced the first interactive live televised theatre forum event in Ontario -- only the second such event in the world.
1986: "Images of Birth" is the first known officially invited popular theatre presentation made to a government body sitting in session anywhere in the world.
